How to Cleanse and Recharge Crystals

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO PURIFY A CRYSTAL?

Purification is the process through which the crystal is freed from accumulated energies and old programming.

WHEN TO PERFORM THE PURIFICATION?

When you buy a Crystal or receive one as a gift, you absolutely must purify it to eliminate accumulated negative energies and make it "yours" on an energetic level as well.

If you work with crystals every day, remember to recharge them (I'll explain how to do this later) and cleanse them at least once a month.

If the crystal works in the home, purify it every 2 months at most.

CRYSTAL PURIFICATION: WHICH METHODS SHOULD YOU USE?

COARSE SALT:

Take a glass bowl (not ceramic because it is porous), prepare a bed of coarse salt and place your Crystals in it, cover everything with the salt.

You can also make a double layer as long as the crystals remain well spaced apart.

Let it rest for 24 hours in a quiet place in the house.

Wash your crystals with cold water and dry well.

Throw away the used salt.

DO NOT put the following crystals in the salt:

Amber, Azurite, Boji, Calcite, Celestine, Kyanite, Hematite, Fluorite, Kunzite, Lapis Lazuli, Lepidolite, Magnetite, Malachite, Opal, Paesina, Moonstone, Sunstone, Pyrite, Turquoise, Selenite, Jaspers, Charoite, Tourmaline, Chrysocolla, Anhydride or Angelite.

VENTILATED CLAY:

Ventilated clay is easily found in pharmacies or online.

As with coarse salt, prepare a layer of clay and place your crystals on top, cover with more clay.

You can always make several layers, it is important that the stones do not touch each other.

Let it rest for 24 hours.

Throw away the clay and clean your crystals either with water (this procedure is valid for crystals that do not suffer from contact with water) or with a soft-bristled brush.

EARTH:

This is my favorite method!

Place your crystals on the soil in your garden or in a pot with healthy plants.

Place them in an area not illuminated by the sun during the day, keeping in mind that purification always takes 24 hours.

Wash your crystals with cold water (always be careful with crystals that don't tolerate it) and dry them well.

Earth is also a great way to recharge your crystals.

WHAT IS MEANT BY CRYSTAL RECHARGING?

When we use our crystals, whether tumbled/raw or mounted as jewels, we benefit from their energy. This exchange needs to be "recharged" so that the crystals always work at 100% of their energy.

CRYSTAL CHARGING METHODS.

Running water: Place your crystals in a crystal or glass container and run cold water over them.

For a more thorough cleaning, leave them soaked in water overnight with a drop of water falling into the container.

Druse: Made of Amethyst or Rock Crystal, these crystal clusters will help improve the energy of your home and recharge your jewelry or stones.

Place them on the druses or very close by and leave them overnight.

Aura-Soma Pomander White: Use a cotton ball and add a few drops of Pomander White, then rub the ball over your stones. (Pomanders generally don't damage crystals, but be careful with rough stones like Malachite or particularly delicate stones like Opal.)

Incense, Palo Santo, sage and olive wood: this method is very popular lately BUT it is the result of new age trends, so it is not considered a traditional charging method.

Place your crystals on a shelf, light some incense or room-cleansing herbs, and rub them over the stones.

This procedure is suitable for a "quick" recharge that is not as deep as other methods.

NB: Palo Santo is an endangered wood; if you intend to purchase it, make sure it comes from a controlled and environmentally friendly supply chain. Olive wood, as I mentioned, is an excellent native substitute.

Tibetan bell: another widely used method is to ring a Tibetan bell near crystals. This charging method, as with Palo Santo and incense, has only been used for a few years.

Sun: Place your Crystals under the rays of the dawn sun, do not keep them exposed for more than two hours, some stones such as Quartz (Amethyst, Rose Quartz etc.) do not like direct rays of the sun, if you want to recharge them at dawn do not expose them to direct rays.

Flowers and plants : take advantage of the flowering periods to recharge your crystals, place them near flowers and let the rebirth energy recharge them overnight.

Moon: Leave your stones under the moonlight and put them back in the house the next morning, but pay attention to the type of crystal and its energy. I recommend this method after an in-depth study of crystals.

NB: Charging crystals during the lunar cycles is recommended for those who already have experience with rituals. I strongly advise against this method if you are new to the practice. All other charging methods are equally effective and, above all, energetically safe.

Moon Water: If you make moon water you can use it to cleanse your crystals.

How to recharge stone jewelry?

Even jewelry, rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc., should be purified and recharged after use.

Use a cotton bag and place your jewelry in it, then place it under coarse salt for 24 hours, then wash with cold water and dry your jewelry.

WHAT ARE THE MOST DELICATE STONES?

In general, all crystals "suffer" contact with chemical substances.

Perfumes, creams and cosmetics can wear down your crystals, damaging their surface and therefore their colour and brilliance.

Among the most delicate stones we find:

Amber, Azurite, Boji, Kyanite, Fluorite, Kunzite, Lapis Lazuli, Lepidolite, Magnetite, Malachite, Opal, Paesina, Moonstone, Sunstone, Turquoise, Selenite, Rhodochrosite, Coral, Charoite, Larimar.

Jaspers tend to be porous but are more durable than the above group.

Quartz and agate are the crystals most resistant to chemical agents but it is always best to avoid contact with them.

The following crystals do NOT like water:

rough and porous crystals such as Malachite, Lapis Lazuli

Amber, Azurite, Boji, Kyanite, Hematite, Kunzite, Lapis Lazuli, Lepidolite, Magnetite, Malachite, Opal, Paesina, Moonstone, Sunstone, Turquoise, Selenite.
